Show common tasks in folders greyed out

This may be a network policy setting. If your system is in a Domain, contact your network admin.

If not, try this:

Open Registry Editor and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
-and-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

In the right-pane, set "ClassicShell" to 0. Restart for the changes to take effect. The option should now be restored.
