how do i show a rounded number without rouning it. for
example:
an actual number is $724,647 and although i need to use
the full (not rounded) number in the calculation, i have
to show it as $724,600 in a separate cell.

maybe there is a way to program a custom formatting type,
but i don't know?

thank you!

Hi

You can simply format the cell as currency with number of decimal places
= -2. You see $724,600 in cell (I belive the comma marks thousands here),
but actually it is $724,647 , and last is used in all calculations too (I
assume that Tools.Calculations.PrecisionAsDisplayed is unchecked).

Exactly how do you do that? When I go to /format/cells/currency and try to put
in a negative number for "decimal places", I receive an error message that
"this entry cannot be used". (XL2002; WINXPPro)

You were probably thinking of a custom
format of 0.0,,"M"_);(0,,"M)";0"M"_);@
which for 1100000 would display 1.1M

But it did have to be done at a comma (thousands separator)..

or were thinking of the fixed decimals option when entering data.
