Can't seem to get Norton Ghost to recognize my Sony CD-DVD drive from
DOS reboot. Shouldn't there be a basic ATAPI driver in the
system.ini files for this drive? Thnx, Bonnie

Windows XP does not need the system.ini file to load/install drivers for a
CD drive; they are included as a part of XP.

Now, if you're talking about booting to DOS then you need lines in both
CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT to have a CD drive recognized and that info is
peculiar to the drive itself and provided by the manufacturer.

You may create a normal DOS boot disk from Windows and there should be
a line in CONFIG.SYS to configure a basic ATAPI CD-ROM drive for you.

If you don't know how to create a normal DOS boot disk, check
http://www.bootdisk.com for details.
