Should I upgrade?

Hi

Just starting to write a web site, and I have FP2000 on my windows
ME laptop.

Should I upgrade? FP2002 or 2003?

Since you're just starting, and since you're using Windows ME, I would stick
with 2000 until I had a basic understanding of web pages / sites and html.

You could upgrade to 2002, but there's not much advantage, and to upgrade to
2003 will require upgrading the OS to Windows 2000 or XP. ( Windows 2000 or
XP professional if you want to run IIS on the machine )

upgrade to XP AND 2003 - just done it and very pleased...(but poorer)

You just have to reach an understanding with ME, then it works fine.
The machine I'm on now is an ME machine. I decided I was going to win and I
did.
Just turned everything off.

I've been trying for months to change how my wife's machine registers a cookie (stupidly I used her name when I named her machine so her cookies have her real name...dumb i know)...MS KB is no help...any idear how to change the cookie plantation?

Right click Network Neighborhood, select Properties, click the
Identification tab.
Change the name, click OK.

ta-dum.

The cookie is only given that name on your machine the server that set the
cookie never sees the name. There's absolutely no way for a web server to
get the name of your PC or your username unless you're on an intranet. This
applies to every version of windows not just me.
