Hi All

Two questions re Outlook that I need advice on please

1.. I am using Outlook Office XP The office has purchased Office 2003 and
wants us all to upgrade. I have no problems with Word and Excel but am
reluctant to change Outlook XP as it works OK for me. It is has all updates.

2.. I am not involved in inter office uses other than email. My main use
of Outlook is for Contacts (not shared) Appointments (not shared) and
syncing these to my Palm

3.. How do I set the format for my Contacts Mobile Numbers. Outlook treats
them as landlines ie (04) 1819-7035 Even when I correct this manually to
0418 197035 it reverts.

4.. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Doesn't matter what you want *if* it is their property. If the computer
you use is their property, you don't get a choice as to what software
they purchase to put on their hardware. If they want OL2003 on their
hosts then it should be them that installs it. Asking their employees
to install software means they have absolutely no control or consistency
in what software their employees are using.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I apologise for my abbreviated message
which
obviously did not make the situation clear enough. I am a partner and a
Director
of the business and run the valuation section which is just me. I have paid
for the
software because my partner and co Director wanted to upgrade. I however
have
a choice. I own Office XP and now co-own a business version for networking
of
Office 2003. Because I have a choice I would appreciate some proffessional
advise.

Hello David,
I suppose the "short and simple" answer is if the software is doing what you
want and you are happy with the current functionality and have no
compatibility issues then it probably does not make sense to upgrade at this
time. Of course I think there are a lot of reasons to look at Office 2007,
but then I am probably biased :-)

For what it is worth, should you also decide to upgrade to Windows Vista at
some point down the road, you will need to go to Outlook 2003 (or 2007) as
well. Outlook 2002 has some serious issues when run with Vista, the major
one being an inability to save account passwords between sessions.

2003 offers better security and better features. Unless you need an older
version for specific automated processes, I recommend upgrading.
