I've been running a couple of IBM Deskstars for a couple of years in a Raid
0.... am putting together a new box this week with P4, DDR PC3200, and the
subject-mentioned hard disk.

My IBM Raid array has been un-partitioned (according to recommendation for
best speed with Raid 0); since I am no longer using RAID, I am curious as to
whether or not partitioning is recommended with the newer SATA single-disk
drives (I used to separate my OS, Games, Apps, and swap file...)

There isnt any good reason to partition a drive for speed reasons.

It can be useful if you multi boot multiple OSs or when
you want to image the boot partition so you can step
back gracefully if an install etc goes pear shaped etc.

The fundamental problem with more than one partition
per physical drive is that its difficult to get the partition
sizes right because the space needed on the boot
partition tends to change over time and its dangerous
to adjust the partition sizes without a full backup etc.
