Should I leave AutoLayout on or off when using Autoformat?

I understand that AutoLayout should be "on" when I insert or delete shapes
and "off" when I move around or edit the elements. I don't know about
Autoformat (changing to other diagram style) though. Please advise.

Comment: I don't like the fact that when I change the default to some other
diagram styles (e.g. 3-D colour or bevel), the connectors get changed or may
be even "messed up."

TIA.

My personal opinion... Turn it off. I don't want PowerPoint making my design
decisions for me. I want it to support the decisions I make about where
things go rather than deciding for me.
