I really don't know what to do, so many people messed up
their pc after installing the sp2 and I'm not too smart
with computers. If you install it and something is not
working properly apparently you can't even uninstall it?
Don't know what to do anymore...please help me

SP2 is a solid, secure release. It is a major "Critical Update"
for Windows XP and updates about 5 million lines of code,
enabling much stronger security, stability, and affords a tad better
performance benefit.

I would advise not to install sp2 yet.
Wait until they have solved some of the issues.
Youve made it this far without sp2, a little longer won't
hurt.
i have installed sp2 on my desktop computer and now it
won't work at all, lucky I still have my laptop running
on xp sp1a.
cheers

Do you change the oil in your automobile ?

Like an auto there is maintenance to be performed on a PC. Fail to do so and down the road
you will face the consequences of your inaction. Not unlike failing to change the oil in
your auto.

Clo,

Is your CPU a Pentium 4? If so, it would probably be wise to get
someone to install the service pack for you. Maybe the place where you
bought it, for example. Some computers running the Pentium 4 CPU lock
up when you install SP2, I found this out the hard way. If you update
your BIOS before installing the Service Pack you should be fine. If
you don't know what your BIOS is, be sure to seek the help of someone
who does know! :)

Otherwise, install the Service Pack. You will protect your computer
from hackers, viruses etc.

Besides, the great thing about bumping into problems with computers is
learning how to fix it. Then, when it happens again, or to someone you
know, you can easily fix it again :)

It's not all gloom and doom. I downloaded SP2 and installed it (it
really couldn't have been any easier to do), and didn't experience any
problem at all.

NO!!!! If your machine is running OK now don't install
SP2. It has too many flaws and unpredictable side effects!

You seem to spend much more time "defending" SP2 than actually offering any
form of help.

Then you may need to read more than a few selected posts or at least
read the entire post.
With selective reading and editing you could see it that way.

An example is how you somehow missed the suggestion in this very post.
You apparently missed the last 2 lines.
