Should I buy a DABS value Radeon graphics card?

Hello,

I would really appreciate some buying advice from people in the know.

I was seriously considering buying this card from dabs.co.uk :

Radeon 9600Pro 128MB DDR AGP DVI VO

The brand is DABS value, and I must say the price is right. I just
wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with these cards and
if someone knows who actually makes DABS value Radeons?

Is it likely that the card will not perform as well as one made by one
of the more well-known manufacturers or will the difference be only
very slight?

Many thanks!

I would strongly recommend that you do *NOT* buy from Dabs, full stop. I
have never bought a Dabs Value product and, since they went credit cards
only and ditched phone support, I've not purchased *anything* from them. If
everything's fine, and you never have a problem - ever then, yes, I will
concede that their prices are very competitive. Should you need to return it
(at your expense I might add) - then it's an absolute nightmare. Just read
some of the reviews here http://www.romulus2.com/feedback/company.php?17.
Please note that the people who gave 4-5 stars didn't have to return their
goods.

If you value your sanity, don't deal with Dabs!

I'm pretty sure that they are Powercolor.

Hmmm ok. I have bought from DABS before without problems, but as you
say it's when your order goes wrong that the real trouble starts.
There seem to be a lot of irrate DABS customers saying similar things.
I will give serious thought to this advice.

Can anyone suggest somewhere else that I can get a cheap Radeon
9600Pro from?

Thanks.

some rebranded video card that they put a logo on.

If it is not a name brand you do not know what you are getting.

Look for ATI, of PowerColor or some less expensive Sapphire Brand.
There are lots of Video card makers like Gigabyte, Asus, MSI,
VisionTek, Gainward, etc.

Try looking at www.newegg.com

Yes, they don't make them. They are not rebranded but they don't give
out the manufacturer information - because they probably sell
different brands under the same heading of 'DABS value'.

Precisely - hence my original question. I was wondering if anyone had
bought a Radeon under the DABS value heading and who the actual
manufacturer is?

Thanks for the link, I'm based in the UK however so I really need
UK-based retailers.

Cheers.
