Should be able to TURN OFF send/receive at startup, geez!

I hate it when it takes 30 seconds for my Outlook to start up every freaking
time I run it just because it always sends/receives messages at startup. I
found NO WAY to disable this, how idiotic is that? I mean, Outlook includes
calendar and tasks and contacts and so on, so if I need to use calendar I
need to wait every time to mail to send/receive? And it taaaakes so long,
ironically HOTMAIL taking the LONGEST! Give me freedom to disable this
option, please.

And the whole options interface is aweful, it's so hard to find anything on
there, but that's another topic. it's NOT always logical to check mail at
each startup, was that so hard to predict? Sorry, but I am just so
frustrated... It's aweful when those geniuses out there make it allright for
"normal" cases but as soon as I need something different I only get
frustrating experience. Yes, usually it's good to check mail at startup, but
in my case it's NOT. Please care about all people, not just the mainstream.

Why bother to post a rant and not include your Outlook version?
No one can answer you.
Polling at startup is not the default behavior for any version of Outlook,
so it does this only because you configured it to.
Support for hotmail is being discontinued, by the way.

this isn't really a reply, but a very similar question. I too would like to
inhibit Outlook 2000 from downloading my e-mail every time I load it. I
still can't figure out how to get my web-mail address boook into Outlook, so
it is sort of useless right now. Can I configure Outlook to leave my
web-mail where it is until I request that it download it? Thanks in advance
for your response/help

Yes. Which mode of Outlook do you have - Corporate or Internet mode? See
Help, About if unsure. All versions can be configured to not download
automatically, but each does it differently.
