Shortcuts to MS Excel files don't work

Somewhere in my travels I've click something that prevents opening Excel
files via shortcuts.

Excel opens, but no workbook is displayed. It is necessary to use the MS
Button, naviagate to the file and then open. (Annoying after 5 mins)

In addition I can now only work on one MS Excel window at a time. Opening
another window tells "Personal.xlsm" is use.

The only option for opening is via MS Office Button

Try the usual fix for this.

Tools>Options>General Uncheck "Ignore Other Applications etc."

In 2007 that would be Orb>Excel Options>Advanced>General

If no joy with that................

Close Excel first and On the Windows Taskbar

1) Start>Run "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)>OK.
2) Start>Run "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>OK.

See the space between exe and /regserver

You might have to designate a full path to excel.exe.

In that case Start>Run "C:\yourpath\excel.exe" /regserver(quotes
required)>OK.

Can you tell me what "Orb" in
" In 2007 that would be Orb>Excel Options>Advanced>General"
means?
I mean the expansion for "Orb"....

An "Orb" is a round object.

The round Office Button at left side of Ribben is an Orb

Thank you Gord,

That worked.
