Shortcuts to files and folders

In previous versions of Outlook, you could make shortcuts to files and folders on your computer/network - and even internet shortcuts. As far as I can see this is not possible anymore. I can only make shortcuts to Outlook-folders

This is really a setback! Can somebody help
 
Create a shortcut on your desktop and then drag & drop it into the Shortcuts
Navigation Pane.
