Shortcuts not working

Not sure if this is the right group to post this question with. If not,
please advise.
For no aparent reason, my desktop shortcuts stopped functioning yesterday.
I haven't added any new hardware or software. When I rebooted the problem
went away. This a.m. it has started again. Any suggestions?

Cool resource. Do you know if the registry changes/fixes
will restore the Icon associated with file Extensions?

Hello,

Depends on the extension. In my testing, some extensions such as HTM did not
restore the default IE8 icon but extensions such as HLP gave the correct
icon after running the registry fix.
