Shortcut: Transferring to New Desktop made easy?

I'm about to replace my W98 machine with a new XP-based machine. I read
somewhere that transferring applications has been made easy in XP, but I
can't find the article. Is there any way I can transfer the applications
without re-installing each of them on the new machine?

No. You will have to re-install all your applications. before you do,
you need to make sure that all your applications have any necessary
updates and patches to run on XP. *DATA* transfer now, is a completetely
different matter - in that respect, XP has made it easier by the
settings and data transfer wizard.
