If I am reading this correctly, select the item that you
want to make a shortcut. Right-click the mouse and
select "Send To" and select "Desktop (create shortcut)".

Thanks Bobby; but I don't think that works.

On Win 95 it doesn't seem to create anything at all (I
just tried it). On 2K I think it does the same as -rght
click/drag/create shortcut- which is create a new shortcut
pointing to the original target instead of to the shortcut.

If I get a copy instead of a redirect then the systems
people can update my original shortcut and my new one
won't have the correct "wrapper" code. If I can .lnk to
the .lnk the systems guys can move the end target and
change the "wrapper" code to their hearts' content and my
link will still work.
