Filips Benoit

Hoi,

On my desktop I have all kinds of shortcuts. To programs, folders, ....
Also a shortcut to all of my storemedia

C > programma's ( partitie van interne HD)
D < data ( partitie van interne HD)
E > DVD
F > external HD
G > stick

These worked Ok ( double-click the shortcut) until my computer blocked (
haning, doing nothing ) while copying a very large folder from D to F. I had
to shot down and restart. BUT

Now when I double-click the link I get the Open-With popup. ( same with
R-click>open or R-click>explore)
I can set windows explorer as program to open but this works only once since
I can't set the checkbox on.
Shortcuts to subfolders on D opens normaly.
I can open F using Windows Explorer and there I see that both disks has the
same name and type !!
DATA (D:) type = local disk
DATA (F:) type = local disk

what's the cause of this behavior?

Thanks,

Filip

Does Event Viewer provide any information?

With the help of KaerelV on a Dutch helpgroup if soved my problem with
solution 1

SOLUTION 1
-----------------
This problem often occurs because there is an autorun.inf file on the
root of the drive having the problem. As these files are hidden, you
will have to start up Windows Explorer. Click on the Tools menu, then
select Folder Options. Click on the View tab. Put a dot next to Show
hidden files and folders. Also, I usually remove the check mark next to
Hide extensions for known files types, as well as the check mark next to
Hide protected operating system files (Recommended). After this, hidden
files like autorun.inf will show up in an Explorer window, but dimmed
out. Just find the file and delete it.
