shortcut on desktop

Is it possible to create a shortcut that will open outlook to this months
calendar? Currently I can only make it open then I must select calendar.

You can have Outlook start with the calendar instead of the Inbox as follows:

Use Tools, Others, Advanced Options
In the General settings where it reads "Startup in this folder" click browse
Select Calendar
Ok, Apply, Ok
