Dr. Indera

hello,

i just installed office 2003. i attempted to set up the shortcut bar, but
couldn't find it. i went into help and it said that the shortcut bar in not
in office 2003.

is there a way to bring the shortcut bar from office 2000 into office 2003?
if so, how do i do that?
if not, is there something else i can use that looks and works similar to
the shortcut bar.

thank you
indera

There is no Shortcut Bar for Office 2003. You can install the office SCB
from a older version of Office or to create a Shortcut Tool Bar for Office
2003 using the Windows task Bar. Create a folder with shortcuts for all
office programs. Right Click On the Task Bar select Toolbars > New Toolbar
and Navigate to the folder containing your Office shortcuts and select it,
click OK. However if you drag the toolbar off the Task Bar and then later
close after using the toolbar you will need to recreate it to use again.

There are some other alternatives as well if you search the news group you
will find some of the other alternatives that are offered. I personally like
perfect menu for it's functionality

hi paul,

that's exactly what i'd like to do - to install/copy my shortcut bar from a
previous version of office.
i haven't been able to figure out how to do this. do you know how i can do
this?

i checked out the software you recommended. i like it, but would much rather
have my old shortcut bar.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you.

hi garfield,

thank you for the link. from that link, i found this page
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=828956 that states if a
previous version of office is installed, the shortcut bar will remain.

i haven't started using my new laptop yet, so taking office 2003 off is not
a problem. i will put office 2000 on and then office 2003. what i'd like to
know is if you know where the shortcut bar files are stored, as i'd like to
copy them from my old computer to the new one. i realize that i'd probably
have to tweak them a little, but it's better than starting from scratch
<smile>.

after i get everything set up the way i want it, can i uninstall office 2000
and keep the shortcut bar?

any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you
indera
