How do you remove the shortcut arrows slapped on some
desktop icons? I know there's some trick or registry setting-
I just don't remember. I think I used TweakXP to do it, but I'm
hoping for a simple solution without installing additional software.

Thanks.

TweakXP generally works its magic by setting registry settings. There
may be multiple settings to change to achieve a particular effect.

Works for Vista, too. The desktop icons are so
much prettier. :-)

1. Start regedit.
2. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile
3. Delete the IsShortcut registry value.
