I used TweakUI (2.10) to set the overlay to "None". But
around 95% of the time after I reboot, the arrow shows up
again making it so that I have to use TweakUI to once again
set the overlay to "None".
Why would this be occuring and how can I stop it?

thnx,
Christoph

Christopher--

I don't know *why* that setting in Tweak UI doesn't stick. As you know,
Tweak UI is a gui interface for getting reg edits done that make changes.
The first question is does that happen with more than one TUI setting--if so
you might uninstall and reinstall, and I bet the answer is no.
You might search for "Tweak UI setting doesn't stick." Here's how to get it
done though:

Go to
Kelly's Tweaks (Line # 185 Right)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

or you can do these regedits:

1. Start regedit.
2. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile
3. Delete the IsShortcut registry value.

4. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\piffile
5. Delete the IsShortcut registry value.

6. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ConferenceLink
7. Delete the IsShortcut registry value.
8. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DocShortCut
9. Delete the IsShortcut registry value.
10.Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InternetShortcut
11. Delete the IsShortcut registry value.
12. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WSHFile
13. Delete the IsShortcut registry value.
