short-cut delays--why???

I have a few programs where I have assigned a shortcut key combo.

It works, but on some of the programs there appears to be a delay when I use
the shortcut. It sometimes takes 10 seconds before the program boots when I
use the keystrokes shortcut.

Why? How can I speed things up??

I see the same here but I do not think that it is related to that the
application is started via a shortcut. Windows may be busy at the time
what means that the program starts with some delay.

Mel,

[Start]
| Run |
services.msc
[Enter]

In the Services (Local) list,
right-click "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)"
and then click [Stop].

When "Service Status:" = "Stopped",
change "Startup Type:" to [ Disabled ]
[OK]

I don't think this article applies. The delay occurs when a create a
keyboard shortcut for the program (eg: ctr/alt/s runs a certain program).
