That's fine, unless you're doing it to protect yourself from popups, which
indicate a security hole....and the answer to that is, get a firewall.
Disabling messenger alone merely hides the symptom of what is a very major
problem....

Sure, but it's a bit disengenuous - it makes people think they're fixing a
security hole, when really all they're doing is putting a bandaid on a
subdural hematoma. Most people who write in about messenger popups need to
be told they need firewalls, among other things.
