Hi Frank
In line, if I may:
Thank you very much for your rapid response to my initial request. It
seems
to me that you have a deep understanding of my problem. I tried with all
the
links you provided me, but i still have the same problem. After I scan my
computer with different spywares softwares including the new Microsoft
Spyware - "BETA" Edition, didn't work either to fix my problem.
Ok..let's take this one step here at a time, and I'll post as I go along:
I am considering the following alternatives please let me know your
opinion:
1- I would like to replace the "shodclc.dll" file, but i need to know how
I can get an uncorrupted copy of this file.
This is the site that I use most often, as the files here have always been
clean and work well. Go to the site, go to the <S> section. On the list
window scroll down to the shodclc.dll and click it. The download dialog will
popup and you can save the zip file to your hard drive in a folder where you
will know where it is.

2- After I get a copy of the file, I would need to be guded on how i can
replace the file in a "safe mode" or in DOS. I used before a "Safe
Mode",
but I still need some guidance to deal on how to start and finish on this
environment.

You should be able to install the file from here, as it also bypasses
loading Windows, thus the file won't be in use.
Go here and print out the instructions so that you can have the at hand
during the install process:

You should be able to do this from Safe Mode, and you can try the extraction
method using the msconfig as mentioned in the above. However, if that does
not work out, then you have the new download. You woud go to the saved
zipped filed you downloaded and extract the file to the proper folder where
the old file is, that you have renamed to replace it. The reboot and see if
that works.
3- If the above dosen't work, I think that my best alternative is to
reinstall completelly my Windows XP again. I would like to keep this
option
as my last resource.
My question is, if I performed a complete reinstalation of the Windows XP,
(includeing formating the drive I will use for the instation), this
action
will erase the corrupteed file or not?.
Yes....if the other does not work, then you should uninstall the Windows XP
and reinstall. Uninstalling the XP would remove the file. You *don't* have
to do a reformat of the hard drive. However, if you have not already done
so, I truly suggest that you try a system restore to a time prior to when
the problem started, if possible, or a repair of XP before uninstalling and
reinstalling. It may solve the problem without resorting to the scapel, and
you won't lose your data files and such.
