I have installed SP2, .Net 2 and I can't get a swf file to play in the image.
It plays great in XP Pro. Any ideas?

Do you have the shockwave component in the XP Embedded image? Are using the
latest shockwave version?

I am using the Shockwave Flash componet. Ver. 5.1.2600.3300. Do I also have
to install the player from the adobe site as well?

The component that comes with XPe is a bit older. Shockwave is up to version
10 now so you might want to try the update. You can either instal the latest
version or create a component for the latest version.

I am having problems downloading the 10 version. I can't seem to find the
installer once it finishes loading on my machine so that I can copy it over
to the development machine.

Ok now you are going to think I am weird. I installed the full version and
still can't play the .swf files. It is basicly telling me that my current
security settings don't allow me to play them. Any ideas on this? I have
tried changing the setting in IE explore by reducing the security level but
that didn't work either.

thanks

Tim,

When you say you can't play a .swf file do you refer to IE Shockwave ActiveX? I mean does it launch an IE to play the file? (that
what typically happens with Shockwave client but still there is a standalone player exists).

If that's about ActiveX, it might be happening due to the issue introduced with a security update (got to SP2) published by
Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909889.

You may want to add the registry entries mentioned in the KB and see if it helps.

Adding the registry setting got rid of a couple of messages but still no go.
Yes it is an IE Shockwave ActiveX file. The message that I am getting after
adding the registry keys is "to help protect your security, Internet Explore
has restricted this file from showing active contnt that culd acess your
computer. Click here for options.."

after saying allow, the IE screen goes blank. When I relaunch the file the
same message appears.

Thanks for the help

Tim,

You are running on SP2, default security settings there was set much higher than in SP1.
You problem is likely there due to SP2's local zone lockdown feature.

If you may want to either:
- In IE Advanced options, under Security node, check option "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer".
- Or make "My Computer" zone visible in IE Zone settings dialog and make necessary changes in the local zone options.
- Download the shockwave client with non IE-SP2 software. (removes the mark of the Web)

Read all about it here: http://www.phdcc.com/xpsp2.htm

If there's activeX involved in this then 905915 broke it. You'll have to
either update it or roll it back. 'm having issues with that one myself.

Ok, I have now done the following. Installed 905915. Didn't work. In IE
checked "allow active content...". Made "My Computer" visable and then
changed the zone options to allow everything. Still didn't work.

More info on the project. Yes I am running SP2, so does that mean I will
have to unistall the SP2 from my repository and also unistall Feature Pack
2007 CTP A?

the saga continues, but thanks for the help

905915 *breaks* activeX IME. I've no experience of 2007 as having only
one Dev environment at the moment I can't change anything - every time I
do, something breaks. :)
