Shockwave not running

Dear All,

I'm having problems running shockwave files on IE6.

I get the message: "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has
restricted this file from showing active content that could access your
computer. Click here for options..."

I can then select to allow the blocked content to run, but I would prefer
the content running from the C drive, to be allowed to run without being
blocked

I have tried tools, options, security and setting the custom security levels
to enable pretty much everything, and it still fails.

I don't mind so much for internet zone swf files to be blocked, but I would
like local files to run normally.

Can anyone tell the option setting that I've missed?

Does IE class the local hard drive as being in the Intranet zone?

Thanks for your help,

Dave

Hi Dave :-)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, but, try the
following and see if it helps:

Allow active content to run in files on My Computer - Windows XP Service
Pack 2:
http://www.winxptutor.com/lmzunlock.htm

or....

Go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab
Scroll down to the Security section of the list
Check the box next to "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer"
Click OK out and close IE
Open and try again

If you have any 3rd party toolbars such as Google, MSN or Yahoo, disable
them. If you have Yahoo Companion, uninstall it. If you have any 3rd party
software, firewall, popup or ad blockers, disable them (for diagnostic
purposes).

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your speedy reply.

I've found that I can get shockwave to run by allowing "active content to
run in files on my computer", from the advanced tab - but I was hoping to
just to be able to allow it for files running from my local drive, (or even
from a particular folder!).

Hi Dave :-)

Sorry for the long delay, but, I had to do a bit of research on this
situation. Not sure if this is what you are wanting to do, but, along with
allowing the active content to run in files on our computer, try right
clicking the .swf in question, choose Properties, then choose "Unblock".

Hope this helps.
