Shockwave activeX problem

I am getting the following message when I try to run an existing presentation
with an imbedded .dcr file:

"Some controls can't be activated. they may not be registered on this
computer."

I have downloaded the shockwave director player and can get the animation
to run in an explorer window, after unblocking the control. The controls show
in powerpoint and appear to let me add and delete the movie in the frame,
although the file does not show.

Any suggestions as to a fix.

I am clicking on the the Shockwave ActiveX option under controls, able to
draw a rectangle and able to set the SRC location of the .dcr file under
Properties. The file does not display. When I tried it again following a
reboot, it began working .. very frustrating.

Problem began again when I closed powerpoint and opened it again.

I suspect it is playing the file and is not able to restart afte the first
pass, it's done as far as it knows.
