You can't install drivers for an operating system until you have
installed an operating system! The exception to that is when you need to
install controller drivers during the very beginning of OS install and
that apparently isn't your problem.

We don't have enough information about what you are doing, your
computer's specs and hardware make/models to give you more specific advice.

Post back with more details including the exact text of any error
messages you might get.

I am having the same issue; I believe. Vista will run through the entire
installation process but never finishes. It goes as far as the BIOS then the
screen goes blank but the computer is still running in some sort of freeze
mode. Sound familiar?

Vista installed fine before, but I changed my hard drive and now that's what
happens. There shouldn't be a need to install any drivers first (as far as
we know here). If I find a solution, or the cause I'll post back. Maybe
someone else can help also..?

you can install drivers before the installation, but its best to wipe your
drive clean and get your drivers cd if you got two dvd/cd drives in your
computer or two different hard drives or partition, just save the it onto a
different partition, and there should be a option to add drivers if so be it

Thanks. What I found though was (at least on my part) it was operator
error. I still had devices connected which were preventing the OS from being
able to finish.
