Shift Keys

Using XP. Intermittently when I press the shift key on
either side to capitalize, it doesn't capitalize. It acts
as if it isn't "sensitive" sometimes.
 
How old is the keyboard?.. Have you tried it out on another system, one
using Win 98SE maybe?..
