shell32.dll problems

When I turn on my computer a box pops up asking to run a cpl elevated. My
only options are continue or cancel. I always cancel, but i would like to
solve the problem. There is a details box and when i click it i get the
following:

"C:\windows\system32\runlegacycplelevated.exe"
shell32.dll, control_rundll "stacgui.cpl" page=portmap

Does anyone know why this happens and how to make it stop? i have run my
virus scanner and spysweeper and no alerts or infections come up. someone
please help. i have been researching and asking for help on this for months
now. Thank you for helping me whoever takes the time. i really appreciate it.

effort to help?
 
Malke did make the effort to help you by answering your question in another
newsgroup that you multiposted in. Try not to be snotty when someone takes
the time to answer your question.

Not my fault the OP can't remember which groups he posted to. That's what
happens when you multipost. Since I found Malke's answer to the OP's
question, perhaps the OP can learn how to do the same thing. Since I didn't
say anything about searching Google for a name, perhaps you should fire your
shots toward the poster who made the comment about Google that so infuriated
you. If you read posts more carefully you can avoid the same mistake again.

OK - you're not an idiot. Sorry about that. Posts are read by many
people, not just the question/answer parties. Different readers are
subscribed to different combinations of Microsoft groups. For the sake
of all other readers who aren't "in" on the Phil/Malke show ...


Looks like Phil posted in -

microsoft.public.windows.vista.general
microsoft.public.windows.vista.hardware_devices
microsoft.public.windows.vista.security
microsoft.public.windowsupdate

His problem might be audio drivers. Updating his audio drivers is a
mystery to Phil, apparently. Malke has "answered" Phil's question on
ALL the above groups (except for one). And of all Malke's answers, only
one is real. The others are UseNet wisedom about multi-posting, and
patting himself on the back about "already" giving an answer elsewhere.

I wish Malke could become aware of another UseNet wisedom. The wisedom
of keeping his mouth shut sometimes, and not blowing his own horn and
following a possible lamer around.

Malke is SO helpful to Phil. But not to all the other readers who
stumble across the *Phil - Malke* show.

Unfortunately this has turned into netlink/fitz show and phil, the lame op
who knows absolutely squat about how computers poerate is still confused on
how to fix this problem. i am sorry everyone... i didn't know that there was
an accepted way of posting. iposted in several different places to make sure
that someone stumbled across my question. can't we all just get along?

Fair enough, I will try to get along.

Phil - please find a friend/acquaintance in your local circle. Someone
who is familiar with computer stuff.

Let this person find and update your audio(?) drivers. You need someone
at your side. In the real world.

It's (almost) impossible to accomplish what you need done by text
messaging or over the phone.
