Hi,

I have Win2k Pro SP4 installed on my machine. I recently attached a
friends hard drive (explicitly set as slave) to my machine. The OS
boot-up was normal and explorer showed the new drive's partitions and
their data. Once I started transferring data between the drives,
explorer froze-up. So I opened up the task manager and terminated
explorer.exe, started explorer from File->New Task (Run).

This happend over and over again, but ONLY when Windows Explorer was
open. I could operate normally as long as I didn't open any explorer
windows.

I managed to do my transfer using ACDSee without any problems.

The Event Viewer shows the following when this happens...

Source: Winlogon
Event ID: 1002
the shell stopped unexpectedly and explorer.exe was restarted

I used SFC to replace explorer.exe, but that made no difference at
all.

I have not been able to pin down a trigger for the explorer crash
either.
It happens any time, not related to copying-pasting, launching
files/applications, idle time, focus or not, Explorer.exe hangs up
every few minutes if windows explorer is open.

I don't have internet access on that machine, no LAN, it's a
stand-alone home PC and I don't have any shady applications (read
spyware) installed either.

Is there something I am supposed to do when I attach a secondary HDD?
Like fiddle with some settings in the Logical Disk Manager or
something?

Please help!

regards,
Sammy
