I have been watching the Mitec software since somewhere earlier 2003.
I was particularly interested in his registry file viewers. He has a
regviewer for .reg files. And also, more interesting, he has another
viewer for hives (.dat on 9x), with ability to export to .reg.
Yet the last time I'd taken a close examination of his products, I found
them altogether still too beta: incomplete and buggy. I think that might
have been somewhere near a year ago.
Very recently, I did notice that he has done a much more developed release
of the reg hive viewer, RFV. <

At first glance, things looked problematic. Got the impression that Mitec
was one of those turned shareware, now that he had succeeded in advancing
some things out of beta. For instance, on the front page of the site, there
is a REGISTER button next to all the featured products.
And the downloads, they have _TRIAL as part of the zip filenames.
I downloaded and launched RFV. In its titlebar, it says "DEMO." Despite
that, RFV is not in the least crippled. It is very functional.
Here is brief excerpt of license statement for RFV:
| License
| -------
| Compiled version (WRF_Intf.dcu) is FREEWARE.
|
| The cost of a site license is currently 35 EUR.
| This license permits development using MiTeC Registry File Reader
| by any number of persons at your place of work. [...]
Conclusion. For those interested not only in the program about which
Wayne posted, Mitec's Shell Extension Pack, but also in investigating other
programs by that developer.... Do not shy away because of those signs
which normally mean NOT-Freeware (ie - REGISTER, TRIAL, DEMO). As with
the case of RFV, there is more detailed meaning being used ther, and you
might walk away with a couple of good toys, freeware for individual use.
