Hello, I was wondering if there is any way to share a
piece of hardware ie. scanner, webcam, ect... on a
network. Such as the same way you would for a printer.
I am trying to set up a simple servalence system for my
business at work because we were just vandalized, and the
co. doesn't want to spend any money to get the security,
so if I could set up sharring of a webcam or two on a
network that they already have they would go for that. I
would greatly appreciate any input.
Thanks

I do not know the answer to your question. However, I purchased a
"voice mail" program some time ago that is supposed to be able to allow
you to video monitor your home remotely. I've never actually done it,
so I don't know if it works. You might wish to take a look at their
website. Communicate i2000 www.01com.com, according to the manual. I
haven't checked the site for a year or so, though, don't know their
current status.

For your situation, I'd look at the Axis network cameras.
Give them an IP address, and then just point your browser at them.
