this?its asking for the registration code and im using the one that
came with my disk for my desktop computer but its not accepting it!
According to Microsoft's licence for Windows XP, you need one licence (and
key code) per machine you install XP on to. So if you've already used a
licence key to install XP on one machine then you are not supposed to use it
to install XP onto another. With a 'full' copy of XP you can transfer the
licence from one machine to another, but it should only be installed /
running on one machine at any time.
Further to this, disks that come with a computer (aka OEM software) are
designed to only ever run on one computer and to 'die' when that particular
piece of hardware dies. As the copy of XP you're talking about sounds like
OEM software, this will therefore not work out well for you. Sorry.

I'm always surprised at "professionals" who STILL have to be asked "Have you
checked (event viewer / syslog)".
