I have an XP Pro PC set up on the Workgroup "workgroup" with a USB Drive
shared and a USB printer shared. I can see the Vist PC from the XP PC but I
cannot see the XP PC or its shared resources from the Vista PC.
How can I access the XP Pro shared resources from the Vista Business PC.

If turn off the firewall, can you ping the XP by IP?

First check personal firewalls, and the NetBT setting, on each computer. Make
sure that each is consistent.

Then look at logs from "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all", from each
computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and
follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):

Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
My email is AT DOT
actual address pchuck mvps org.

Thanks Robert. Your post got me looking. ZoneAlarm on the XP computer was
blocking until I made my private network subnet a Trusted Zone. This solved
the problem.

Thanks Robert.
Your post got me looking and I found that ZoneAlarm on the XP PC was
blocking the Vista PC. I made my private network subnet a trusted zone and
this took care of the problem.

Hi
I have the same setup as you, with zoneAlarm, can you please tell me how to
as you say, you made my private network subnet a trusted zone.

Brian

Open ZoneAlarm
Click on Firewall
Click Add
Enter a name “MyNetworkâ€
Select Subnet
Enter the subnet for your private network.
With XP, you can Run CMD to get a command line. Enter IPCONFIG to get the IP
address assigned to your computer: something like 192.168.0.102. Your subnet
in this case would be 192.168.0.0.
