No response to message below after a few days...if there's noone that can
help do this within the W2K system software, can anyone reccommend a good
freeware/shareware solution for this?

Thanks - John

Orig msg follows:

I need to configure a Creative Modem Blaster V.92 PCI on a W2K Adv Server
box to receive faxes. I need to share the line with voice calls.

Is it possible to configure it so that the Fax Service will automatically
pick up fax calls, but leave voice calls for manual answer? From the prop
pages and help (and google) it seems like if I set it up to auto answer
after n rings, it always picks up the calls then, voice or fax, and if I set
it to manual enable, I always have to take action to allow it to receive a
fax. Obviously, if I'm out of the office, I can't manually "OK" every fax
call that might come in...

Thanks for the help.

Hi John,

Couple of options. One is that you can have your phone provider provide a distinctive ring for
your faxes and then you can configure your systme to answer on distinctive rings. A simpler
solution is to buy a third party device, almost any electronic store, that connects to your phone
line and detects a fax versus a voice call.

Just a couple of sources. Check with your local electronics/computer store. Most should have
phone/fax devices for around $40-50.

Thanks,
Gary
