I run windows XP home edition. Is it possible to share a software program
that runs under "the owner" and a "guest" user. If yes what are the steps to
follow.

You can manage what users have access to an application by managing the NTFS
folder permissions for the application. Most applications are installed in
the program files folder. If you check the properties of a desktop shortcut
it will show the path to the folder for the application under target. In XP
Home you need to boot into Safe Mode and logon as an administrator to see
the security tab for files and folders and the users/groups listed that have
permissions and what permission level. Usually a user only needs
read/list/execute permissions to run an application and the application may
already show read/list/execute permissions for "users" that would include
any user logged onto the computer other than the built in guest account. If
the user can not see the application shortcut or icon you can copy it from
your desktop folder under documents and settings\username\desktop folder to
the same folder for the other user or the user can create a shortcut on
their desktop by right clicking a blank space on the desktop, selecting
new - shortcut and navigating to the application executable file. The link
below explains more on configuring folder permissions. --- Steve
