Sharing problem

I just had to replace my router and now I can't share files or printers.

My laptop is XP Home and my wife's machine is XP Pro. Both are hooked to
the router via network cable and she has all the printers attached to her
machine via USB. When I use the Add a Printer wizard on my computer, it gets
to a point where it shows the MSHOME icon under Microsoft Windows Network
but shows no printers

If I get on the XP Pro machine and try to share the printer or share a
folder, it give me dire warnings about not doing it since this computer is
hooked to the internet. Well, how else am I supposed to do it? I did drop
a large folder into the Shared Folders on the XP Pro machine and I still
don't see
that from my laptop.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom

It is hard for me to understand what you have done or not done. For
starters, please post the results of ipconfig/all for both computers.
Isn't that message the result from a computer that is connected directly to
the internet?
Jim

Jim,

Sorry for not being more clear.

Both computers are hardwired (Ethernet) to a Linksys router and that router
is connected to my Comcast modem. So, both computers have internet access
but not though one or the other, only through the router. But, both
printers I am wanting to access from one computer are hardwired (USB) to the
other computer. I have added many network printers in the past but I don't
recall it ever putting me down that road with the danger, not recommended,
warning.

TIA,

Tom

Tom,

This will be easier to diagnose, with logs from "browstat status" and "ipconfig
/all", from each computer. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow
instructions precisely (download browstat!):
