I install simple new network consist of two computers
connected through their Ethernet Lan cards. and both
usind window XP professional.
when I want to perform the command '\\IP address' to
explore the contents of the other computer a window
appears asked me to inter username&password.
what does this window mean and which usernamr&password I
have to put, where I didin't put any username or password
in any computer.
also I can not share my printer because no computer
recognize network printer.
so how can I share the resouces & navigate through other
computers in the network.
note: I disable the simple file sharing.

Mazin,

for a test please create a new user with a password on one
computer, then create the very same user with the same password
on the other computer.

Log on as that user on one computer and share a folder to which
this user has access rights. Log on to the other computer as
that same user and try to access that shared folder.

This is how it's meant to work.

For some other potential problems please have a look at

I take it that you are either using a hub/switch to
connect the machines or are using a cross over cable.
secondly, are the drives shared on each machine?
finally, try connecting using the pc name not the IP
address its easier ie. \\server

good luck
