Sharing printers with all accounts on a given computer

We purchased 10 HP d220 computers, all identical
These came with XP Pro/SP1 installed
We purchased a 15 user license for Office 2003, works great
An HP printer driver has been installed on 6 of the computers for a little
HP 3450 printer connected via a USB port.

On 4 of the computers the printer is available to all users, regardless of
the assigned group.

On 2 of the computers the printer is only available to accounts assigned to
the administrator group.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled the printer driver but that does not affect
the problem.

Please note that...
--The computers are not networked at the moment
--The XP default security/user groups is being used
--Simple File Sharing is being used
--There is no 'Security' tab on the printer properties dialog
--The Sharing tab is there but has no effect since these are not networked
yet

Can anyone tell me to fix this so all users on a given computer can use the
printer?

TIA

HI:

To bring the Security tab to view and configure security permissions in the
Printer Properties;
In the printers folder, go to Tools/Folder Options/View/Remove check
from "Use Simple File Sharing (recommended)"

Also you need to set the printer as a shared resource:
In Administration Tools/Computer Administration/Shared Folders/
Shared Resources/in the right pane/right click, select New/Shared File..

in Shared Folder/type; C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\drivers
in Resource name type; print$
in commentary type; shared drivers, shared printer, or other description.

To install the printer on each computer;
In My Network Places, look for the computer with the printer/double click
on the computer/right click on the printer icon/select "Connect"
