I am trying to share a printer on my home network. When
I try to bring up the computer the printer is attached to
the computer I'm working on asks for a user name and
password. I have no Idea what the user and password are
since I never set it up on my home network. Any help
would be appeciated.

What do you mean by "When I try to bring up the computer the printer is
attached to..."? Why are you bringing up the system, if your trying to
print?

To print to a printer on your network you need to install that printer on
you machine. In the control panel run the add new printer wizard. Then you
print as you normaly would. You don't need to bring up any other computer
for that.

When I run the wizard the printer does not show up. It
lists the user computer that the printer is connected to
but no printer. I have 3 different computers on my home
network.

After running the wizard I tried to access the user
computer to see if there was a network error or some kind
of access problem. That's when the user and password
screen came up.

I already have the necessary drivers loaded on all the
computers. But for some reason the computer that has the
printer attached to it does not want to allow access to
anything. Unless I enter the user and password that I
don't know.

You need to go back to the printer you shared and check
the rights. You need to make sure you shared it to the
world with all rights.

So I take it that you can't print to that printer from any other networked
computer. Correct? But you can print from that machine right?

Did you make sure that the machine with the printer is indeed sharing the
printer? Right click on the printer and check the sharing tab. Make sure
it really is being shared.

HELP ME PLEASE

Please don't yell. I was kind enough to respond in the first place. A am
trying to help you, however I have a life, a career, and a family. I don't
spend every waking moment in front of my computer.

I'm sorry if my help doesn't come as fast as you want, but in all fairness
the first thing I did after booting my computer was to check and respond to
newsgroup posts. If you don't like or appreciate my help, fine you can look
elsewhere.
