i have a wirelss network running from my xp computer. the vista wireless
computer i have shows my xp computer in the "full" network map, but shows a
"switch" between the xp computer and the network. i can access the vista
computer but can't access the xp computer nor use it's printers from the
vista one. i've tried hours and hours of research, futile attempts to fix
and idle time listening to no nothings on help lines. can someone PLEASE
help - i'm stumped.

If turn off the firewall can you ping each other by IP? if yes, what's the result of net use \\xpipaddress?

yes, i can ping both computers without a problem. whn i use xpipaddress it
works fine from both computers - both when entering computer names or ip
addresses.

Then post back with the result of net view \\xpipaddress?

just to update - i appreciate the help i received, but have ended up with a
much more serious problem on the new laptop - my OS seems to be corrupted -
i'm trying to back things up so i can start all over - but i'm having trouble
doing even that. again - thanks for the advice - but maybe a clean start was
what was needed anyway (trying to find the bright side of this)
