Is it possible for me to add a pc and user B into the permission list of pc A
that has the share folder on it. I am not using any server, they both belong
to the same workgoup, and are on the same subnet. When I go into the
security settings and try to add this into the permission list on pc A, it
wont let me change locations to add pc and user B. It just says that object
cannot be found. Do I have to have them on a domain in order to use this
function? I know I could just add "Everyone" to pc A's permission list, but I
would like to specify pc and user B if I could. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks.

You will only see the local computer name in location if the computer is not
a member of an Active Directory domain. However if you have the same user
account/password on PC A and add that user to the share list then any user
with that user name/password logged onto another computer can access that
share assuming they have proper network connectivity. Also simple file
sharing would need to be disabled on PC A so that users authenticate as
themselves and not guest. You can not disable simple file sharing on XP
