1. I tried to share an online calendar created in Outlook 2007 with my
colleagues. Some can incorporate the online cal into their outlook 2007,
some cannot and one outlook 2003 user cannot open the calendar via web
browser.

2. I also tried to subscribe to another online calendar sent by my boss but
error message was "The Windows Live ID that you signed in with is not
authorized to view this calendar...."

The Live ID uses a different email address from our office email address.
What happened?

Online calendars are NOT very good function-wise.
You would be better off sharing on a shared network folder as in this
article:
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/publishcal.htm

One more thing:

I also received this notice in the calendar's email to my office email
address:

"This calendar is shared with restricted permissions. To preview or
subscribe to this calendar, you need to enroll the e-mail address to which
this e-mail message was sent with a Windows Live IDâ„¢ account."

How do I enroll my office email address to my existing Live ID account?

Hi Gordon,

the whole idea of sharing an online calendar is that we can access our
schedules off site. Going on a shared network folder defeats the purpose as
we need extensive and expensive hardware to allow off site access to our
internal network.

regards,
still hanging on to hope....

Ah. you didn't mention that in your OP.
having used the Office Online Calendar sharing, I find it flaky, and it does
NOT (AFAICS) allow sharing of tasks.
I think your best solution would be to set up a server to which your users
can VPN and share calendars there.

I take it you're in US i.e. outside of Malaysia....you have no idea how
expensive VPNs are locally, no thanks to the currency exchange rates.
Anyway, the other alternative would be to use Google or Yahoo calendar to
test out our requirements.

thansk for the assist.

regards,

Did you give all of the users permission to view the calendar? You need to
use their live id, not the office address, when you share.

you'll need to make a new live id acct (you can have as many as you need - 1
per email address) - or send it to your live id address.

VPN uses an ordinary internet connection......is connecting to the Internet
very expensive in Malaysia? (And I'm in the UK not USA).....
