Sharing of system files to sync two computers

I have two computers, a desktop (XP pro) and a laptop (XP Home). Using MS
Synctoy I sync certain files every night between the two, except the MS
Outlook .pst files. Because my Outlook data files are in the
Windows\application data directory and thus are not sharable by system
default, I have to use a two-step process of copying the Pro .pst to my
Home desktop and then copying the .pst to the Home Outlook data file
location.

Is there a better (that is, one-step) way to do this? Ideally, I believe,
I should be able to sync (in this case overwrite Home) the two .pst files
directly but since system files are not sharable, how does one make them so?

Appreciate any help anyone can provide.

Actually, by default they're in c:\documents and settings\username\local
settings\application data\microsoft\outlook.

Well, I don't like using the default location for that stuff anyway. With
Outlook *completely* closed (make sure outlook.exe isn't running in the
background), you can move your PST files wherever you like on this computer.

Because I also change My Documents to point at c:\data, I would put it in
c:\data\Outlook. But it's up to you. When you open Outlook and it complains
it can't find the file, you can direct it to the new location. Close and
re-open Outlook.

I don't use synctoy, I either use a batch file & robocopy, or I use
SecondCopy at www.centered.com. But you ought to be able to simplify this.

Hi guys.....

There is an easier way to share Ms Outlook data.... I am using ShareO
software.... It shares Ms Outlook folders between computers. It is
very easy progam. I suggest to try it at:
http://shareo.4team.biz/?pcode=6083101948f43tk

What is your affiliation with this company? If you're going to recommend
software, and you aren't a familiar face in any group, you had best provide
that information or people will dismiss you as a spammer.

That's fine - it's just good to remember that if you're going to recommend a
product, you ought to mention whether you work for the company or not, as a
lot of people get cranky about spammers in usenet. No offense was intended
:)
