Sharing my DSL connection between my main PC and 1 add'l using a router

How do you set up you machines so that my two computers
can share a DSL connection. I went through the setup on
both machines and it seemed pretty simple to follow but it
does not allow me to hit the internet through the main PC.
Help Please !
