Sharing music folder

Hi

How do I share MyMusic folder? Currently MyMusic is under MyDocuments which
is a private folder. I understand I have to transfer the folder to 'Shared
Music'. Can I just copy the shortcut there? When I try to 'share' the
'Shared Music' folder all the options are greyed out.

The purpose is that I am trying to share the music folder so that my Wifi
Internet radio can see my files and then it is possible to play them in
another room

I hope you can help.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

If you have the HD space for it, copy whatever music you want to share
directly into Shared Music, thus leaving the My Music folder intact. If you
have a lot, create subfolders and name as needed to separate specific
artists/albums/song titles. I do this with great success elsewhere on this
thing.

Thanks, but how do I share the folder? At the moment I am unable to share
the folder to the network.

Would it be better to move (rather than copy) as this would take up alot of
space and duplicate files? Please let me know if it's best just to move
the files.

Thank you

Sorry, I may have misunderstood your question. Unfortunately, I don't know
a thing about networking. Thought problem was getting what you wanted to
*share* INTO Shared Music. Hope someone else sees and answers.

Hi Apr,

You can't share your My Music folder, as it's a subfolder of you My
Documents folder, which you've made private.

As Malvern said, copy (or move, your choice) the contents to the Shared
Music folder. Then right-click the folder and select the "Sharing" tab.
Check the box "Share this folder on the network". You'll have to give it a
share name; this can be anything you like.

HTH Tony.
