In a 2-computer home, will I be able to share an upgrade version of Vista
from XP, or can we share any version of Microsoft Vista on 2 machines?

You'll need to purchase a separate copy of Windows Vista
for each installation on a different computer.

Will somebody in his/her position be able to buy 1 copy with media from
retail, and a cheap upgrade licence directly from Microsoft for the 2nd
machine, and a much reduced price.

I doubt it. Microsoft promised to "look into this" for Windows XP and didn't
deliver back then, I think they gave an absolutely trivial discount amount
for a while. They could learn from how Apple deals with this problem with
their "family pack" licence model.

That would assume that MS cares about its customers.

Not to mention, you can only wipe your hard drive/upgrade your
computer/repair your computer once, then you'll need to buy a new copy of
Vista.

Not true.

The new Vista retail license is bad enough. There is no need to
propagate untruths about it.
