Steve

we have recently had ntl broadband installed and i want to
share it between my desktop and my mums laptop. We already
have a wireless network, that works, between the two pcs.
The internet is now on my pc. I went on 'program
properties' and ticked the 'share internet connection'
box. I then ran the wizard and i ended up with a floppy to
put into my mums pc to get it going. But here is the
problem

My pc runs win 98 and my mums runs win XP and the file on
the floppy only works for 98/95 so i am now well and truly
stuck

i rang microsoft and got cut off

what can i do!?!?

Hi,

I would suggest you to use a wireless router instead of
share internet connection.

The benefit is that your mum can always access to
internet even your PC is power off (the broadband modem
and wireless router must be powered on). The second
benefit is that you have a better privacy protection.

If you still want to have share internet connection, you
can begin to config with your mum's XP laptop instead of
from your PC; it is more easy to run the connection
wizard from XP than from Win 98. Remember to download the
latest patches from XP update for wireless connection.

I have Win98 and XP Pro, the broadband modem drivers was
installed on Win 98. Before using a router, I ran the
connection wizard from XP and shared the internet
connection with Win98 (not wireless, using RJ45 cable).
However, I thought it was too troublesome as I must power
on Win98 for my XP machine to access internet. So finally
I bought a router and the two machines can access
internet independently.

Remove the first letter m for email.
