Is there any way to share information between 3 different machine as far as
contacts, bussiness contacts, calender and so forth.

Yes, Shaun. Setup a BCM database on a "master" PC. From another PC (that
has BCM loaded), click on Business Contact Manager from the main menu, then
Database Tools, then Create or Select a Database. Choose Select an Existing
Database, then enter the name of the PC where your master is located and
click the Connect button. The dropdown below will show you the databases on
that PC, select the one you want, and click Next. That PC will then be
linked to the BCM db on the "master".

If it's a laptop, you can specify that you want to take a copy with you
"offline", and then you can make changes while away from the office and
synchronize when you return.

Thanks,
Lon

Hi Lon,
does this also aply when using XP Home? If not, how can we (me and my sister)
share the same BCM database if both of us are using XP Home?

Thanks,
Anette

what if you do all these all things, and the other computers cant find the
database on the other computer?

Hi Lon,
I bought the book on Outlook 2007 BCM for Dummies and am trying to get best
sharing methods for a small group of 4 remote users. Would it be better to
have Outlook 2007 w/ BCM hosted or have a "master" PC and shared?

Thanks,

Carl

Carl:

Thanks for buying my book! The answer to your question is this: if you've
got a good high speed line to your office that's pretty reliable, and a UPS
device to protect against power problems, and a decent PC with 2GB of RAM,
there's no reason why your four remote guys can't synch to that. It would
give each guy better performance to work Offline most of the time and then
synch daily or a few times during the day.

That said, there are a lot of advantages (other than the cost) of having it
hosted. Most hosts will/can do a backup for you, they guarantee uptime, and
they're better at protecting your server than the average small business
person is.

Hope that helps,
Lon
