Two related questions:
1) I've created the same USER NAME and PASSWORD on two XP
Pro machines (my desktop and laptop) and networked them.
However, only the SHARED folders are available to each
other. Do I have to go to "Sharing and Security",
then "Share this folder" for all folders (many folders) I
want to sychronize between my desktop and laptop? Why
can't a network login (with the same User name and
Password) have the same file and folder rights as the
user and password that the local logon user has? I even
logged in as the Administrator of the remote PC and STILL
only the SHARED folders were available!!?? I've resorted
to creating 12 CDs then transferring the data that way.
Is there an easier way?
2) I have shared the entire C: drive on the desktop
(Sharing tab -- shows that it is shared as C$). But still
after re-booting the laptop and re-accessing the desktop
via the same username and password, I only see the SHARED
folders on the C: drive. How do I share the entire C:
drive and put a password on it? (note: I have Simple
File Sharing disabled due to software requirements)
